TPMS Valve Stem Buying Guide: Types, Compatibility & Bulk Sourcing

September 29, 2026 · By Century Auto Parts
TPMS valve stems for OE and aftermarket sensors

Buying TPMS valve stems is different from buying standard valves: the stem interfaces with an electronic sensor, so fitment is vehicle-specific and the service parts matter as much as the stem itself. This guide is the purchasing version - for the maintenance side, see our TPMS maintenance guide.

TPMS valve stems compatible with OE and aftermarket sensors
TPMS valve stems - application-specific stems for OE and aftermarket sensors

The two constructions

ConstructionMaterialsBest for
Rubber snap-inEPDM rubber and brass stem, brass coreStandard passenger and light-truck fitments; economical volume line
Aluminium & rubberAluminium stem, rubber seal, brass corePremium and aftermarket installations; match seal to rim against galvanic corrosion

Both are snap-in type for fast replacement and rated to 80 PSI maximum inflation pressure.

Compatibility: the part that decides the order

Unlike a TR414 that fits almost any passenger rim hole, a TPMS stem must match the sensor and vehicle. Our range covers 47 vehicle applications - Buick, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Geely and more - plus a universal stem for Autel aftermarket sensors (TPMS-30). The practical workflow:

  1. Send your vehicle list (brand, model, year) with target quantities.
  2. We map each application to the correct stem - including universal options where you want to simplify stock.
  3. Samples are confirmed against your sensors before the bulk order.

Do not forget the service kits

The stem, core, cap, seal, grommet and nut - the service kit - wear far faster than the sensor electronics and should be replaced at every tyre change. Distributors who stock stems without service kits leave repeat business on the table; the kits are the consumable that brings customers back. Specify plastic caps for TPMS applications to avoid metal caps seizing on aluminium stems.

Bulk sourcing notes

  • MOQ by model - mixed applications can be combined in one order; consolidated shipping with valves, weights and repair materials is standard.
  • Specify construction per application: rubber snap-in for volume lines, aluminium for premium programs.
  • Verify pressure rating (80 PSI) covers your market's passenger applications.
  • Ask for compatibility confirmation in writing with the quotation - TPMS mistakes are expensive.

Century Auto Parts manufactures TPMS valve stems in our own factory in Hebei, China - see the TPMS category, the ordering guide, or send your vehicle list for a quotation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the right TPMS valve stem?

Match the stem to the vehicle make and model - TPMS stems are application-specific because the sensor interface differs. Provide your vehicle list (brand, model, year) and the supplier matches stems to it. Universal stems such as the Autel-compatible TPMS-30 cover aftermarket sensor programs.

Rubber or aluminium TPMS stem?

Rubber snap-in stems (EPDM with brass internals) suit standard passenger fitments and are the economical choice. Aluminium-and-rubber stems are more durable and used in premium applications; match the seal material to the rim to avoid galvanic corrosion.

What is a TPMS service kit?

The service kit is the replaceable hardware on a TPMS valve - stem, core, cap, seal, grommet and nut. It should be replaced at every tyre change; the sensor electronics are reused until the battery dies.

What pressure rating do TPMS stems have?

Our TPMS valve stems are rated to 80 PSI maximum inflation pressure, covering standard passenger and light-truck applications.
